Imagine getting a London flatshare with someone that you cannot stand. For example, you might not be able to converse with them in a friendly matter since the thought of them just makes your skin crawl.  Then you just end up doing whatever you can to avoid them. Living this way in a London flatshare would be very miserable, and to make sure it does not happen to you, you need to figure out whether you and a potential flatmate are compatible with one another.

To figure this out, what you need to do is have a conversation with the person you are considering getting a London flatshare with to find out what their likes and dislikes are.  During this conversation, there are some questions that you are going to have to ask the person, even if it makes you uncomfortable. Some of those questions include:

  • What time do you like to sleep? This may not seem like a huge deal, but it is due to the fact that if you are a morning person and get up early, where as your potential roommate is not, then what could happen is the two of you annoying each other when one person wants to sleep while the other is making noise.
  • How clean do you like things to be? If you are a person who really needs things to be all neat and organised, then you need a London flatshare with a person who feels the same way about cleanliness because if you live with someone who is a slob, then you are going to have a problem when you feel the need to clean up after them all the time.
  • Do you have a job? This may seem like a real no brainer, however, if you fail to ask it and find out that your flatmate is broke, then you will be out of luck when you have to pay their portion of the rent for your London flatshare, so make sure they have a job before you enter into any kind of agreement.
  • Do you like people? If you like to party and be social, then it is probably not a good idea get a London flatshare with someone who does not and vice versa.
